The Governor of Osun State,  Sen. Ademola Adeleke, on Friday, laid the foundation for the establishment of Curators University, Africa’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) university, situated in Modakeke, Osun State.

Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, Governor Adeleke described the initiative as a landmark achievement aligned with his administration’s five-point agenda, particularly in the areas of education advancement and youth empowerment.

“The establishment of this university here in Modakeke is a milestone achievement, which aligns with our drive to boost the educational sector. I charge all stakeholders to ensure that this institution becomes one of the best universities in Nigeria—both in academics and in culture,” the Governor said.

Curators University is poised to be a cutting-edge institution offering specialized programs in:

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Computer Hardware Engineering

Data Analytics and Database Administration

Arbitration and Conflict Resolution

3D Printing and Polymer Science

among other forward-looking disciplines.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Joseph Toriola, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, joined the event alongside dignitaries, community leaders, and academic stakeholders to witness this transformative milestone.

Founder of the institution, Mr. Olusola Amusan, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships (PPP) in developing Nigeria’s tertiary education sector. He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts with government to access endowment funds and educational loans that will broaden access to quality, future-ready education.

> “To provide truly cutting-edge education, the government must work hand-in-hand with private sector institutions. Our goal is not only to support national development through education but also to boost the local economy of Osun State—starting with Modakeke,” Mr. Amusan stated.

Also speaking, Barr. Abimbola Amusan, Chairman of the Planning Committee, noted that Curators University is designed to serve as a global academic and innovation hub, one that will empower the next generation, create jobs, and catalyze economic growth for generations to come.

The Osun State Government reaffirms its commitment to fostering innovation, digital literacy, and inclusive education as pillars for sustainable development.
