NigComSat Projects $3 Billion Annual Revenue, Expands Focus Beyond Government Contracts

The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) is projecting an average annual revenue of $3 billion as it embarks on a strategic transformation to broaden its market base and drive innovation across its service offerings.

Speaking at the July edition of the DevsInGovernment MDA Workshop Series held in Abuja, the Director-General of NigComSat, Jane Egerton-Idehen, disclosed the agency’s new growth trajectory. The event, themed “Driving Operational Excellence through Technology at NigComSat,” was organised by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, with support from Galaxy Backbone and the World Bank.

Egerton-Idehen said the agency is shifting from its traditional focus on government contracts to a more diversified approach, including the development of innovative products with extended lifecycles to unlock greater market value.

“We are projecting an average annual revenue of about $3 billion. But with more innovation and longer product lifespans, we believe we can surpass that,” she stated.

She also emphasized the importance of raising awareness and improving the visibility of NigComSat’s solutions among public and private stakeholders as a vital part of its growth strategy.

Also speaking at the event, Abiodun Attah, Executive Director of Technical Services at NigComSat, highlighted the agency’s renewed focus on expanding services beyond public sector clients.

“In the past, NigComSat focused mainly on government clients and avoided the enterprise market. That has changed. We are now actively engaging businesses and expanding our services,” he noted.

He added that NigComSat is currently collaborating with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to provide 2G, 3G, and 4G connectivity in underserved rural communities—an effort that aligns with the national objective of bridging the digital divide.

The DevsInGovernment initiative, under which the event was hosted, is designed to foster a vibrant community of technologists and innovators within the public sector, driving digital transformation across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
