Nigeria, Turkmenistan Discuss Establishing Diplomatic Relations

The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, has held talks with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, to explore the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) in Khankhendi, Azerbaijan, on Friday.

During their bilateral discussions, Turkmenistan’s foreign minister formally conveyed his country’s request to establish diplomatic ties with Nigeria. He expressed Turkmenistan’s interest in developing broad cooperation covering political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural areas.
