The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Didi Walson-Jack, led Federal Civil Servants in the May edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) monthly Walking and Jogging exercise at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Speaking as the Chief Guest Jogger and Captain, Mrs. Walson-Jack who led the officers to an energetic walking and jogging session, emphasized the importance of physical fitness in enhancing productivity and efficiency in the public service. She stressed that a healthy workforce is fundamental to effective service delivery and urged Civil Servants to adopt fitness as a lifelong commitment.

“Physical well-being is not just a personal goal but a public service necessity. As leaders, we must champion wellness not only in words but through active participation,” she stated.

The Head of Service commended FEPSGA, led by Comrade Amaebi Aloku, for promoting unity and well-being through sports and applauded Rivers State for successfully hosting the 2024 Public Service Games. She also announced plans for the 2025 Civil Service Week, which will feature an International Civil Service Conference and a dedicated Keep-Fit Exercise.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, praised Mrs. Walson-Jack for sustaining the fitness initiative, describing it as a vital investment in the holistic well-being of civil servants.

The Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, Mrs. Patience Oyekunle, encouraged public servants to prioritize their health, stating that the monthly exercise is a key step toward building a more resilient and dynamic workforce.

FEPSGA National President, Comrade Aluko Amaebi, lauded the Head of Service for her unwavering support of sports in the public sector, noting that her leadership has reinforced the role of fitness in boosting productivity across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments and Agencies, and Public Servants across MDAs, participated actively in the exercise.

The event underscored the commitment of the Federal Civil Service to promoting a culture of health, unity, and productivity through regular physical activity.
