Murderer of Kano Housewife in police net

KANO — Operatives of police in Kano said it has arrested the principal suspect and a murderer, Shu’aibu Abdulkadir of a housewife, Rumaisa Haruna who was attacked in her matrimonial home, strangulated and stabbed with knife.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the Kano Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna said Abdulkadir was arrested following a diligent investigation supported by intelligence-led technical operations.

Haruna said the principal suspect has confessed to the crime by invading into the victim’s matrimonial home, strangulating, and stabbing her with a knife on the neck, resulting in her death.

According to him, “The Kano State Police Command is pleased to announce a significant breakthrough in a case of culpable homicide that occurred on 6th April 2025, at Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Kano. Following a diligent investigation supported by intelligence-led technical operations, the principal suspect, Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, ‘m’, 35 years old of Madatai Quarters Kano, was arrested on 23rd May 2025.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime, admitting to trespassing into the victim’s matrimonial home, strangulating, and stabbing her with a knife on the neck, resulting in her death. He will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. The victim, Rumaisa Haruna, ‘f’, 22 years old, of Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Farawa Quarters Kano, was discovered by her husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, with severe neck injuries. When rushed to Hospital, she was confirmed dead.

“The Command commends the detectives for their tireless efforts and professionalism that led to the arrest of the suspect. The suspect, currently in custody, is helping further investigation to ensure full justice is served.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police. The Command assures the public of its commitment to safeguarding all residents and maintaining peace and order in the state,” the spokesperson, SP Haruna however stated.
