PRODA dialogues with firms to commercialise ceramics, pencil products

The Director General of Projects Development Institute(PRODA), Dr Peter Ogbobe, said the institute was discussing with other firms on possible collaborations and partnerships to commercialise ceramics and pencil products.

Ogbobe said this at the ongoing technology and innovation expo in Abuja on Wednesday.

He hinted that the discussion involved Momas Electricity Manufacturing Company Ltd , Coscharis Farm Igbariam, Harbin Institute of Technology and the People’s Republic of China.

He said lithium ion battery, solar panels among others were also to be commercialised.

He disclosed that the Institute sought approval of the ministry to partner and execute a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with relevant stakeholders in order to support it’s commercialisation efforts.

The PRODA D-G noted that the Institute leveraged on STI tools to find sustainable solutions that could create new opportunities for growth, and build a more sustainable and resilient economy for the future.

According to him, PRODA has developed and produced machines/equipment that achieved high productivity and high quality products.

He said such equipment help obviate the challenges posed by manual processing of agro -produce with a view of reducing post harvest losses.

Ogbobe further said that the Institute also mechanised palm fruit processing flow -line to red oil.

He talked about mechanisation of cassava to starch processing flow line, mechanisation of soya-bean to flour processing flow line among others.

He said Nigeria’s economic progress could be propelled by levearing the opportunities technology presented to drive positive change.

He explained that through constant innovation, collaboration and pushing the boundaries of what was possible, the power of technology could be harnessed to overcome challenges and foster sustainable development.
