2024 Expo: Minister seeks technopreneurs’ partnership to develop STI

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, on Tuesday sought partnership with technopreneurs in the private sector to develop Science Technology and Innovation (STI) outcomes.

Nnaji made the call at a news conference on the upcoming 2024 Technology and Innovation Expo in Abuja.

According to him, developing the outcomes of science, technology and innovation will  fast track the nation’s socio-cultural, economic and political development.

He said that the 2024 Expo titled “STI: Solution to National Economic challenges’’ would hold from March 11 to 15 in Abuja.

“The theme aligns with the ministry’s objectives of promoting science, technology and innovation, facilitating the commercialisation of research, development and innovation outcomes,’’ he said.

He said that the purpose of the Expo was to unite Innovators/Inventors, research institutions, universities, federal and sub-national ministries, departments, agencies in the private sector.

“This is to promote locally made goods and services, reduce high cost of importation, enhance revenue generation and create employment opportunities.

” These initiatives are pivotal in advancing the Made in Nigeria Agenda, fueled by indigenous inventions and innovations showcased during the event, “minister said.

Nnaji said the expo would educate pupils and students about the significance of being scientifically and technologically literate.

“The expo will feature such activities as exhibition of research, development and innovation results, inventions and STI products/ services,’’ he said.

He added that certificates and prizes would be awarded to outstanding exhibitors in the categories of Tertiary and Research institutions, Inventors/Inventions. (NAN)
