NACETEM Governing Board reject dissolution, urges Tinubu to order investigation

By Modupe Isaac

The Governing Board of the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) , has rejected the call for it’s dissolution, urging President Tinubu to order investigation into the process.

This is contained in a statement issued and signed by Mr Haastrup Olatunji, Chairman of the NACETEM Governing Board and made available in Abuja on Tuesday.

Olatunji said the attention of the Board was drawn to the call for it’s dissolution by the Academic Staff Union of Research Institutes(ASURI) , widely reported by some national dailies on Monday, June 12.

He said the call was based on the Board’s stance on the illegal recruitment process of Dr Olusola Odusanya imposed on the agency as the substantive D-G.

“The Board has nothing against Dr Sola Odusanya as a person. He responded to the call for application for the position of DG/CEO of NACETEM, as did 10 others by the Board.

“But they have not made it to the shortlisting stage ..

“We have maintained since the beginning that the recruitment process, which sidelined the Board, was not only flawed, but illegal, premised on the 2019 Conditions of Service, which was disowned by the Head of Service.”

Haastrup said the insinuation that the Board was behind the protest by the agency’s NASU was not true.

The Board Chairman stressed that the emergence of the new D-G was flawed and re-iterated that the process of the recruitment should be probed.

“This was always the basis of our petitions and letters, open or administrative, to Mr President and other high
officials.

“In the twilight of the last administration, efforts were also made to dissolve the Board, so as to bring in Dr Odusanya office, this move failed abysmally, ” he said.
